FSU football: 3 major things we learned in January 2024

Mike Norvell In Tallahassee For The Long Haul
If you follow me on Twitter, you know I was never afraid Mike Norvell would leave FSU for the Alabama job. There were way too many cons opposed to positives to stay. However, the only thing that concerned me was what his outlook was on FSU getting out of the ACC. If FSU had not already filed the lawsuit to begin the process of leaving? I likely would have had a different take. I can't express what Mike Norvell turning down the Alabama job meant for FSU. That one decision likely changed future of FSU football. Had he left, I don't know if the FSU fan base could have recovered, at least not anytime soon.
However, as soon as the announcement came that Mike Norvell had signed an extension? It felt like a proverbial weight came off of the program, and FSU immediately caught more momentum in the transfer portal, with players leaving Alabama for FSU. It was poetic justice for the College Football Playoff snub, since that was the team they used to keep FSU out. Mike Norvell has FSU football in prime position to compete at an elite level for years to come, and he's only 42 years old with an eight-year contract.
