FSU football: 3 major takeaways from Orange Bowl depth chart
By Kelvin Hunt
Defense Mostly Intact
I'm surprised by how many guys who played significant snaps remain listed on the depth chart. There is no Jared Verse, Renardo Green, Akeem Dent, or Fabien Lovett, as expected. I'm surprised Kalen DeLoach, Tatum Bethune, and Braden Fiske are listed. I wonder how much they will play? It looks like the situation with Patrick Payton is fixed. Darrell Jackson, Joshua Farmer, Dennis Briggs, and Fiske would be a formidable defensive tackle rotation if they all play.
Dante Anderson and Jaden Jones appearing on the depth chart for the first time this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see some Braden Fiske at defensive end in certain situations if he plays. Conrad Hussey with the OR at safety is a good sign. AZ Thomas and Fentrell Cypress are solid options at corner. There are a lot of young options in reserve roles in the secondary, which will be a good barometer to see where they are going into the spring. Omar Graham and Blake Nichelson as backups, but I'd expect them to play quite a bit. Overall, this should be a respectable defense, but how respectable depends on how much the FSU offense can contribute.
