I know some folks believe Mike Norvell made a mistake taking a transfer quarterback, but that's not true. There's no way FSU could have gone into 2024 with Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek as the only scholarship quarterbacks with what the preseason expectations were. Especially considering Glenn has been prone to injuries in his short time at FSU. Here's a trend with Mike Norvell and transfer quarterbacks. Mackenzie Milton and DJ Uiagalelei are the transfer quarterbacks Mike Norvell took from the transfer portal. Both enrolled and got a spring, summer, and fall camp, and looked terrible in-game action. In hindsight, it took Jordan Travis multiple years of practice and about 18 games before he started to show a real mastery of Mike Norvell's offense. Milton, Travis, and Uiagalelei have all gone on record with how much they must consume to learn the offense.

It's likely another reason why Mike Norvell felt he needed a transfer to bridge the gap and give Brock Glenn another year to learn the offense. Uiagalelei showed promise in one year at Oregon State and had a better year there than at Clemson. The hope was he'd pick up the offense quickly and be good enough to bridge the gap. He's been awful, but his receivers and tight ends haven't done him any favors with several drops in two games. The offensive line hasn't lived up to its billing and FSU can't run the ball, which doesn't help his cause in the passing game.
