Running Back via Committee?

Mike Norvell likes to use the running back via committee approach and used it heavily in 2022, with at least three running backs over 90 carries during the season. However, he tended to lean more heavily on Trey Benson in 2023 with the departure of Treshaun Ward to Kansas State. Lawrance Toafili has the second-highest carries with 69 and has proven he is a capable runner at the college level. Alabama transfer Roydell Williams had over 100 carries in 2023.

Caziah Holmes only had 29 carries in 2023, but had a career-high 51 in 2020. Sam Singleton had eight carries as a redshirt freshman last season, and Kam Davis enrolled at FSU this spring. The natural inclination is to think Williams will supplant Trey Benson, and Lawrance Toafili will maintain his role as the Swiss Army Knife, with Holmes, Singleton, and Davis looking to solidify themselves in somewhat of the Treshaun Ward role in 2022. Or, could we see Williams become the featured back similar to Benson in 2023, with over 150 carries and 34 percent of the carries?
