Red Zone Touchdowns Allowed

Since I brought up red zone trips, the FSU defense allowed 45 red zone trips in 2023(tied No. 65 nationally). They allowed touchdowns 53.33 percent of the time, which ranked No. 27 nationally. The latter isn't terrible, and was the fourth consecutive year the defense improved in that area. However, they must improve on the number of red zone trips allowed, which ties into decreasing the amount of explosive plays allowed.

For comparison's sake, Michigan allowed 25 red zone trips, Ohio State allowed 28 red zone trips, and Clemson allowed 29 red zone trips. Michigan and Ohio State allowed red zone touchdowns 44 and 46 percent of the time. To be fair, neither of those teams faced LSU or Georgia who ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in FEI offense. Nonetheless, if FSU could get the number of red zone trips below 35 and get the red zone touchdown percentage under 50 percent? It would go a long way into making the defense more dominant in 2024.
