FSU football: 3 hidden areas Noles must improve in 2024 season

Offensive Busted Drives
This is an FEI stat for the number of offensive drives that got zero or fewer yards. Would you believe it if I told you 12.4 percent of FSU offensive drives met this qualification? FSU ranked No. 85 nationally in that category. The number is skewed by the Jordan Travis injury and freshman Brock Glenn starting the last two games against ranked teams. However, there were times when the FSU offense looked stagnant and relied too heavily on jump ball passes to Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson early in the season.
FSU must get this number down to at least seven or eight percent. That'll at least help provide a better field position for the defense if they have to punt anyway. It'll provide more opportunities to score if they can get a first down during an offensive possession too. It would also give the defense more time to rest instead of going three-and-out or turning the ball over. FSU struggled to run the ball last year, but I think that's an area they'll see marked improvement in 2024.
