STACK THE BOX IN RUN SUPPORT

Florida State football had a difficult time stopping the run during the 2023 season at times even with the sensational pieces that it had on the roster.

However, the defense eventually was able to adjust in the second half to make the corrections needed to win the football. That is the mindset of defensive coordinator Adam Fuller during his time in Tallahassee where he can make the changes to see his team be successful.

That was not the case on Saturday as the Seminoles allowed 190 rushing yards. It became apparent early on that the Yellow Jackets wanted to establish the running game. That is the strength of this squad as they ranked No. 12 in the FBS last year in rushing yards per game.

Florida State still went with a two-high safety defensive look where it put a ton of pressure on the defensive line and linebackers. When the Yellow Jackets were gashing up the middle and misdirection runs, I thought that the Seminoles would have crowded the box and forced quarterback Haynes King to run.

I believe that they will learn from their mistakes and force dual-threat option Thomas Castellanos to beat them through the air.
