FSU football: 2024 Game-by-game predictions and win shares

Vs. Boston College on September 2nd
Boston College will travel to Doak Campbell Stadium for FSU's first home game while it is under renovation. It's a Monday night game that'll be in prime time and FSU will have had time to get acclimated to the time change after arriving from Ireland. Boston College finished the 2023 season at No. 81 overall via FEI. They had the No. 39 offense and No. 111 defense. Boston College is a +23 betting underdog. They have a new coaching staff but will return starting quarterback Thomas Castellanos, who gave FSU fits last season in a game that was too close for comfort. However, it took several odd things to get to that place.
Boston College exploited Akeem Dent's absence in the secondary, missed a gazillion tackles, allowed a fumble recovery for a touchdown, and failed to recover an onsides kick. It was the first time they saw Castellanos, and he won't have the element of surprise this year. This will be their season opener, and they'll likely have some wrinkles for FSU, but will likely be sloppy at times. FSU has the blueprint to contain Castellanos (they did for most of the game last year) and had a 31-10 lead near the end of the third quarter. FSU had too much talent and will be out to prove last year was a fluke in front of its home crowd. FSU wins 41-17 with a 95 percent chance to win the game.
