With eyes pointed everywhere, FSU Seminoles Basketball seemed unfocused as they lost their second straight game.

Led by Jahmir Watkins (2) game-high 26 points, the Seminoles were unable to muster a winning effort. Missing the chance to gain ground, they have fallen into a three-way tie for fifth place in the ACC and must battle to emerge from the middle of the pack.

The Seminoles left a Hokie shooter alone at the three-point line much too often. FSU was frequently made to pay for such a mistake as Virginia Tech shot 11 of 23 from behind the arc.

While Florida State was able to keep pace in this regard, shooting 8 of 18 for 44 percent from three, their lackluster free throw shooting ultimately spelled doom for the Seminoles.

FSU shot just 65 percent from the charity stripe, while Virginia Tech successfully converted 87 percent of their free throw attempts. That factor along with the Hokies outrebounding the 'Noles 35-23 allowed Virginia Tech to separate late in the game.

Florida State also turned the ball over 13 times, and the Hokies scored 23 points off those opportunities. Oppositely, Virginia Tech had 11 turnovers, but the Seminoles could only garner seven points.

FSU did shoot 53 percent overall from the field compared to Virginia Tech's 40 percent, but the gaps in other statistical categories created a Hokie victory.

Before, FSU was pushing the top of the ACC battling for a double bye with Duke, North Carolina, and Virginia. After this loss to the Hokies, the Seminoles are now surrounded by Pittsburg, NC State, and Syracuse as Florida State allows more teams to enter the fry to battle for fourth place.
