FSU baseball (18-0, 3-0 ACC) had an outstanding week, defeating top-10 ranked rival Florida and sweeping the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to open ACC play to remain the only undefeated team in major college baseball. The Noles had a top-25 ranking by Baseball America and Perfect Game, but it was no ranking by D1 Baseball last week that drew the ire of FSU fans on social media. FSU had not played the toughest of schedules until that point, but D1 Baseball had several teams with worse strength of schedules and several more losses ranked in their top 25. It was a prime opportunity to put up or shut up with the Noles traveling to take on the rival Florida Gators, who owned a four-game winning streak against the Noles. If the Gators beat FSU, then of course everyone would have pointed to FSU's strength of schedule and said D1 baseball was correct for not ranking the Noles. However, FSU took care of business, ending the four-game losing streak in a road game.

It didn't hurt, that Florida won two of three games against No. 4 Texas A&M. However, how does D1 Baseball continue to rank Florida that much ahead of FSU, despite the head-to-head loss? I know Florida didn't pitch their weekend pitchers, but neither did FSU. Baseball America and Perfect Game have been higher on the Noles, ranking them in their top 25 a few weeks ago, and have rewarded FSU's consistency with a top 10 ranking. I should note that D1 Baseball went from not having FSU ranked to placing them at No. 12. That's a sizeable jump, but also points out how far they've been off about the Noles. The rankings are aesthetic and don't mean much right now, but I want folks to pay attention to what happens if and when FSU does lose a game. Florida has seven losses and is ranked No. 6 by D1 baseball. FSU hosts Stetson on Tuesday before traveling to No. 4 Clemson next weekend. This week will tell you all you need to know about the Noles.
