FSU baseball (30-5, 10-5 ACC) completed a three-game sweep over the rival Miami Hurricanes Saturday afternoon. The Noles defeated the rival Florida Gators earlier in the week to complete a three-game sweep to claim its first State Championship since 1960. FSU baseball has been on a tear since getting swept by Clemson on the road a few weeks ago. FSU is 12-1 since that sweep, with the lone loss against Louisville in a game where they committed several errors and beat themselves. National media polls were slow to react to the success of the Noles as they began the season unranked. Rightfully so, but after a torrid start, media outlets have slowly started shooting FSU baseball up the ranks. They finally cracked the top five in one national poll, checking in at No. 5 with Baseball America. Perfect Game has the Noles at No. 6, and D1 Baseball finally puts the Noles inside the top 10 at No. 8.

The competition will get much stiffer in the coming weeks. FSU will take on Wake Forest, Duke, and North Carolina in the next three weeks, with two of those series taking place in the road. Duke ranks No. 6, North Carolina ranks No. 11, and Wake Forest ranks No. 14 nationally. FSU currently has the No. 2 RPI nationally, and the schedule should put them No. 1 after that. The Noles have had to navigate some key injuries to its starting pitching. Cam Leiter missed the Boston College and Miami series, and Conner Whittaker missed the Miami series. However, the offense and defense have been among the best nationally. Cam Leiter is making progress towards returning, but Whittaker’s prognosis is up in the air. However, it looks like Link Jarrett and the staff have a plan to work around the injuries, with Conner Dorsey starting in the last two weekend series. The Noles will take on Mercer in midweek action on Tuesday before traveling to Wake Forest on Friday.
