FSU baseball (26-5, 7-5 ACC) is finally the highest-ranked team in the Sunshine State. FSU peaks at No. 7 nationally via the Baseball America top 25. Perfect Game ranks the Noles at No. 8, and D1 Baseball continues to play the Noles, ranking them at No. 10. FSU ranks No. 3 in the RPI rankings and is one of four ACC teams among the top 10 in multiple national polls. FSU had another excellent week, going 4-1, which included two midweek games and the three-game road series against Boston College. I gave some quick thoughts on the Boston College series here. It's good to finally see one poll penalizing the University of Florida (17-14) for all the losses they've accumulated. However, it took the Gators getting swept by an unranked Missouri team for that to happen.

Ironically, Perfect Game and D1 Baseball continue to rank the Gators in the top 25. That is ABSURD. FSU will host the Gators Tuesday night with an opportunity for the full three-game season sweep. FSU defeated Florida 12-8 and 14-3 run-ruled win in the two earlier games this season. I'm sure they'll be looking to avoid that loss, and FSU can't overlook the Gators in that one. They'll also host the rival Miami Hurricanes in ACC play this weekend. The Hurricanes got swept by the top 10-ranked Duke Blue Devils. All three losses were by one run. The Noles are second behind the Clemson Tigers in the ACC Atlantic division. The Tigers went on the road and swept the Notre Dame Fighting Irish over the weekend.

This week is big for the Noles. A third win over the Florida Gators and a series win or sweep against the Miami Hurricanes could be huge for recruiting purposes. The Noles added a nice commitment last week as Link Jarrett continues to add pieces to keep FSU baseball among the elite.
