FSU baseball: 3 reasons to be confident, 3 reasons to worry about Tennessee
By Kelvin Hunt
Tennessee Experience
This FSU baseball team has shown great poise and the ability to bounce back all season. They played in hostile environments, and they are a talented team. They have played in prime time slots on TV. However, one major difference between FSU and Tennessee? The latter has players who played in the College World Series recently. FSU head coach Link Jarrett spoke about things the players must deal with upon their arrival to Omaha. All the distractions, photo shoots, and interviews while trying to become familiar with the ballpark and everything else. Tennessee has been to the College World Series recently, in 2021 and 2023. However, 2005 was the last time the Vols made it before the 2021 season.
They lost their first two games in 2021 and went home. However, they had a better showing when they returned in 2023 with many of the same players. FSU head coach Link Jarrett coached Notre Dame to the CWS in 2022, preventing Tennessee from making it in back-to-back season(and ultimately preventing four consecutive appearances. However, none of the players on the FSU roster have experienced the College World Series. They could play loose as they have all season, or they could feel the pressure to deliver FSU's first national title. Tennessee having the CWS experience is an advantage.
