Florida State football final NFL Mock Draft: How many Seminoles will hear their name?
The running back position is not a huge need for a lot of teams and the draft class for this position is smaller than usual. So teams that do need a running back can afford to wait longer like the third round here for the Dallas Cowboys. With Tony Pollard leaving the Cowboys, they need a true RB1 and they could find that in the draft.
Trey Benson has been a projected day-three guy on a lot of mock drafts, but he can easily go anytime on day two, like the third round. Benson is rated as the second-best running back in the draft this year with good speed and the ability to make defenders miss. He has good patience in waiting for a hole to open on the line and once he finds it, he has good speed to burst through and shack off tackles.
Benson also had good hands and can be used a lot in the passing game with an ability to lose defenders after the catch. He knows how to shake off contact and accelerate in the second phase. With Dallas needed more playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, Benson could become an immediate starter.
