Five Florida State football players who will battle for jobs in spring practice
JUSTIN CRYER
Florida State football fans understand the significance of the linebacker position. The unit is essentially wide open given that the room is filled with talented, yet inexperienced options.
The Seminoles were able to get some great news this offseason when veteran DJ Lundy announced that he would be returning to Tallahassee for his final season instead of playing for head football coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.
However, the options behind him are talented but they don't have much collegiate experience. That isn't to say that players such as Blake Nichelson, Omar Graham Jr., and Shawn Murphy (who Florida State acquiring the transfer portal) are not ready for their moment to shine.
With that being said, there is one player that I believe could emerge from the pack that was not listed. That potential contributor is redshirt freshman Justin Cryer. While there wasn't anything memorable about the blowout Orange Bowl loss to the Georgia Bulldogs, Cryer showcased his ability to come downfield as a tackler where he finished with five total tackles.
The sky is the limit for the former Northwestern transfer as he looks to build some consistency with his game.
