Florida State football had a massive offseason with huge transfer acquisitions to help the Seminoles secure an undefeated regular season and conference championship.

One notable veteran who was added to the roster via the transfer portal was former Miami defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. The former Havana, Florida native started his collegiate career with the Maryland Terrapins and then transferred to the Miami Hurricanes.

After the Hurricanes, he elected to transfer once to Florida State. The reasoning behind the transfer to the Seminoles was to take care of his ailing family member. Many individuals felt as though it would have been a justifiable reasoning to transfer to the third school of his career.

However, the NCAA seemed to have a cold-blooded heart as Jackson Jr. patiently waited the entire 2023 season where he participated in practices and was never allowed to play in contests as he was waiting on a waiver to be immediately eligible.

According to a report with On3's Pete Nakos, the NCAA has confirmed that two-time transfers will be immediately eligible to play without a waiver. You see many college football teams experience a mass exodus within their roster. You rarely see a player play multiple seasons at a school without transferring out.

This continues to showcase the inconsistencies that the NCAA has had during this crazy college football landscape that features name, image, and likeness.

I feel very sorry for Jackson Jr. as he could have had the opportunity to play during the 2023 season if the NCAA had some consistency with their policies. The defensive tackle position could have used him where Fabien Lovett Sr. dealt with injuries throughout the season.

As we enter the 2024 season, defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins will still have talented pieces in the rotation even though Braden Fiske, Fabien Lovett Sr., Malcolm Ray, and Ayo Tifase are no longer with the program.
