OT LUCAS SIMMONS

This might be a shot in the dark as offensive tackle Lucas Simmons was a former four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Florida State offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins has had a rich history of acquiring talented pieces, but the recruits that he has brought in have not played much in Tallahassee thus far (other than offensive tackle Robert Scott Jr.).

Simmons is a talented option who is listed at 6'8 and 315 pounds and would be a perfect tackle to protect the blind side of the quarterback. The Sweden native has utilized his time in Tallahassee redshirting as he gets acclimated to the collegiate game. It is risky listing a player who has never played a snap in garnet and gold.

However, I believe with a tremendous offseason that Simmons could contribute in a way and emerge as a reliable piece in the rotation. Darius Washington will have to be utilized all over the offensive line since he has the ability to snap the football if Maurice Smith gets hurt.

The offensive tackles look to be Robert Scott Jr. and Jeremiah Byers. However, if one of them gets injured, Lucas Simmons could step into that tackle spot as the next man up. It is time for the former four-star prospect to make the most of his opportunity.
