S CONRAD HUSSEY

Florida State is having to prepare to replace the likes of one of its contributors who has been around in the program with safety Akeem Dent.

Dent battled with a variety of injuries. This was worrisome to some of the fan base given that the depth at the safety position was slim, to say the least. Defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. and defensive coordinator Adam Fuller seemed to have a plan in place.

During the 2023 recruiting cycle, Surtain Sr. had a successful class that was loaded with talented options. One option that emerged as a contributor was four-star safety prospect Conrad Hussey. The defensive back went to St. Thomas Aquinas High School, which did not allow early enrollees.

As a result, Hussey had to enroll at Florida State in the summer. It was thought that it might take a while for him to get acclimated to the collegiate game. During the 2023 season, he appeared in all 14 games and made 22 total tackles. He excelled in lowering the boom on opposing offensive players.

Shyheim Brown will likely man down one of the starting safety spots. Will Conrad Hussey be the other starter?
