DB KEVIN KNOWLES II

I know that I am starting this list with someone under the radar when selecting senior safety Kevin Knowles II. Some fans were frustrated with Knowles II's play at times. That is understandable given that the veteran struggled through injuries.

The coaching staff made the switch for Knowles II from cornerback to safety (he can still play cornerback) and it was rocky at times. Indeed, some players cannot get acclimated to the switch. Look at a contributor such as Omarion Cooper, who transferred to Colorado and is now back with Florida State once again.

During the 2023 season, he recorded 31 tackles (1.5 for loss) and three pass breakups. He started in three games in the year when Akeem Dent was injured. The defense seemed lost at times when Knowles II was out there.

I think with another year of development at the safety position, Knowles II could be a fine contributor for a defense that loves to utilize members of the secondary. Shyheim Brown will be the starter at one of the safety positions. But who will emerge at the other: Conrad Hussey, Davonte Brown, Ashlynd Barker, or Kevin Knowles II? Either way, I expect the veteran to be a factor in some form or fashion.
