4 summer enrollees that could have significant snaps in 2024 for the Noles
DB OMARION COOPER
Let me start by saying that it is unusual to see head football coach Mike Norvell welcome a player back to the program after transferring out. However, it was a perfect set of circumstances as defensive back Omarion Cooper transferred to the Colorado Buffaloes just to go right back to Tallahassee the following season.
Cooper was a talented defensive back that the coaching staff did not want to see go. He had a productive freshman campaign with Florida State. However, the Florida native struggled when he moved from cornerback to safety.
During his time with Colorado, he recorded 37 tackles (two for loss) and five passes defended. With the position change, there were times were even former defensive back Renardo Green struggled and he was a second-round draft pick.
This is a low-cost, high-reward situation welcoming back Cooper who is familiar with the defense. Plus, the coaching staff likes to utilize a ton of defensive backs in their scheme. This was a smart investment by the staff to get him in as presumably a preferred walk-on.
