DJ UIAGALELEI DOWNFIELD PASSING

As I alluded to previously, transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei's ability to throw the football downfield will be key. While the veteran does not need to fall in love with going to the long ball, there should be some understanding that it could open up more opportunities for running backs.

This is a diverse group of backs with many skill sets that can be utilized for head football coach Mike Norvell's offensive scheme. When being able to push the ball downfield, it could create easier rushing lanes for the playmakers to make a difference in the offense.

It took Jordan Travis quite some time to develop the aspect of keeping the defense honest with his downfield passing. However, much of his senior season was centered around the idea of making flashy plays since he was a viable quarterback who could push to win the Heisman Trophy.

Downfield passing will be a bit more difficult without big-bodied playmakers such as Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman, but Uiagalelei should be able to make it work.
