S CONRAD HUSSEY

Florida State lost the "quarterback" of its defense when safety Akeem Dent graduated. Like Darius Washington on the offensive line, he has been with the Seminoles since the previous coaching staff. When Dent was in the game, the defensive backs seemed organized. Not to mention that, when he was healthy, Dent was a dominant force as the season progressed last year.

Fans know what they have in veteran Shyheim Brown who has been a productive starter for the Seminoles throughout his career. However, I wonder who will pair alongside him. I am excited about second-year safety Conrad Hussey.

The former four-star prospect had moments during the 2023 season where he was delivering crushing blows to opposing players. Hussey played in the Spring Showcase on Saturday. There were moments where he made plays but he was making tackles 20+ yards down the field.

I would like to see the young defensive back be more aggressive, get involved, and make plays closer to the line of scrimmage. This is a pivotal moment for his development as Norvell has been raving about the comfortability of veteran transfer Devonte Brown getting adjusted to safety.
