TE JACKSON WEST

Florida State football lost tight end Jaheim Bell to the NFL. As we know about college football, teams have to prepare themselves to lose players on the roster to graduation, NFL, and transfer portal.

That is what good programs do. They don't rebuild, they retool. As it stands right now, the Seminoles have senior tight end Kyle Morlock pegged as the starter. The former Shorter (DII) transfer had over 200 receiving yards in 2023, but Morlock could be in line to get an elevated level of opportunities.

We know who should be the number-one tight end in the offense, but who will step up into the number-two role? Head football coach Mike Norvell values the tight end position in his offense due to their versatility with being able to line up as an in-line blocker/receiving threat, in the slot, and on the outside.

One name to monitor is veteran Jackson West. He was a former three-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle. West emerged later in the 2023 season where he emerged as a capable blocker in the offense. We know that true freshman Landen Thomas could be in play (I still believe that he plays), but it is difficult to predict a young option to be elevated to a starter.
