RB GAVIN SAWCHUK
Veteran back Gavin Sawchuk didn't have the performance that you necessarily thought from someone who finished with 20 carries and 70 yards against Stanford (and probably should have been a touchdown reception at the end of regulation).
However, Sawchuk displayed that "We All on Fries" mentality that the entire group has, where the coaching staff went with Samuel Singleton Jr. as the lead back. The former Oklahoma transfer could have let that impact his play on the field, but he used the opportunities that were given to him.
Sawchuk finished with 6 carries for 10 yards and two touchdowns. This isn't the statistical line that most running backs brag about, but it helped his team with getting the field in reaching the end zone twice.
Most backs want to be the leader of the room, especially someone who has been productive this year with 87 carries for 422 yards (4.9 yards per carry) and eight touchdowns. We will see how his role forms for the rest of the season with how the coaching staff handles the responsibilities of the group.
