TE RANDY PITTMAN
The tight end position has been something that the Seminoles' coaching staff is high on, including head football coach Mike Norvell. The versatility of tight ends is important in the success of the offense's capability.
However, Coach Norvell no longer has the play-calling duties. He still has the last call, even though he is allowing veteran coach Gus Malzahn, but this is a year that Florida State needs to be successful on offense.
I love the wide receivers Duce Robinson, Squirrel White, and Jayvan Boggs. However, Robinson hasn't gotten over 400 yards in a season, White has dealt with injury issues, and Boggs is a youngster who is still learning.
With that said, one of the biggest pickups is former UCF tight end transfer Randy Pittman. The veteran had 416 yards and two touchdowns during the 2024 season, and is the only pass catcher who has experience in the Malzahn offensive scheme. This means a lot for a guy who should benefit from more open opportunities since the Seminoles have quality playmakers.
I know that fans were high on veteran tight end Kyle Morlock last offseason, and he underperformed, but I don't think that will be the case for Pittman.
