Another FSU offensive lineman bites the dust. Former three-star offensive lineman Tye Hylton announced plans to enter the transfer portal late on Tuesday evening.
He’s the fourth offensive lineman who committed to former FSU offensive line coach Alex Atkins to decide to leave(or be told to leave the program) since the season ended last month.

Hylton listed at 6’5” and 290 pounds on the official FSU roster. He redshirted in 2024 and didn’t see any action as a redshirt freshman in 2025. He joins the long list of former players signed by the former coach to never play any meaningful snaps.
Although Atkins was responsible for that unit, Mike Norvell had to sign off on these players, and this is also an indictment of him for allowing these terrible evaluations to take place.
Herb Hand has a good track record of evaluating and developing players. The players he evaluated and signed via the transfer portal last recruiting cycle helped create the best FSU offensive line we’ve seen in nearly a decade, as it graded out near the top of the ACC.
He signed two freshmen and two transfers in the spring portal window, and will need to add several more offensive linemen from the transfer portal to create depth and competition. The real key will be developing the high school offensive linemen they signed. He added five more signees in the 2026 class earlier this month.
Are these the type of conversations taking place with every position group on the team? If so, that’s a good thing to weed out any players they don’t believe can develop into someone who can contribute meaningful snaps.
