Florida State football is desperately looking for a spark in the transfer portal window, as the Seminoles have combined to have seven wins over the past two years. This is the time to shine for head football coach Mike Norvell and his squad in 2026.
The Seminoles have needs on their roster, including quarterback, offensive line, defensive line, and linebacker positions, that must be addressed. There are talented pieces on the team, but a 5-7 record in 2025 will not suffice for a program that expects to compete for championships.
As it stands, Florida State has only landed former South Alabama cornerback transfer Nehemiah Chandler. This was an interesting move because many of the fan base didn't think cornerback was a pressing need since many of the defensive backs that entered the transfer portal after Patrick Surtain Sr. was fired came back.
Speaking of non-pressing needs, Florida State created a spark of discussion on Monday afternoon, as they landed former Texas running back transfer Tre Wisner. This is an electric get for an offense that wants to be more consistent with putting points on the scoreboard.
Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn talked after the season ended about how he didn't have a workhorse back that he was used to. Then the Seminoles added position coach Kam Martin.
Florida State has pieces such as Ousmane Kromah, Sam Singleton Jr., and Amari Thomas on the roster. However, the Seminoles cannot worry about hurting feelings anymore. They have to win football games quickly.
Wisner has combined to have 1,661 rushing yards and eight touchdowns over the past two seasons with the Longhorns (according to ESPN Stats and Information). That should bring excitement in Tallahassee to bring a talented back from the SEC.
