Florida State baseball continues to look for ways to move forward without its superstar first baseman, Myles Bailey. The Noles played their first road game without Bailey on Tuesday night against the Stetson Hatters.
FSU won the contest 6-3 behind some solid midweek pitching and a huge Noah Sheffield two-run blast in the top of the sixth inning. It was a much-needed win after losing to Duke on Sunday, as the energy around the program was noticeably low following the season-ending injury to Bailey.
Cooper Whited had another solid midweek start, going four innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, one walk, and four strikeouts. Brodie Purcell got the win after coming in from the bullpen. He pitched two innings and had two walks and four strikeouts. Chris Knier, John Abraham, and Gabe Nard finished off the Hatters over the final three innings, allowing two hits, an unearned run, one walk, and six strikeouts.

It wasn't pretty, but it was a solid win on the road against a team they were supposed to beat.
Chase Williams and Cal Fisher were the only two Florida State batters with two hits. FSU had eight hits in the game, six walks, and struck out 12 times (three looking and nine swinging).
It's way too many strikeouts, but that's probably not going to change much with this group. At least they found multiple walks to get on base to make things happen.
Noah Sheffield continues to find hits when giving opporutnities after a long slump kept him out of the lineup. FSU will have to have multiple guys to step up in Bailey's absence if they want to have a shot to compete with the better teams. Stetson is below .500 on the season, and it wasn't pretty.
We'll learn a ton about this FSU baseball team this weekend when they travel to Virginia.
