I'm not buying the chances of Nick Saban coming back to college football, not for a second.
BUT if he does return to football, would FSU be an appealing job if it's open? I think so and some does Tom Fornelli of CBSSports .com where he lists FSU as the No. 3 potential landing spot for Saban should he return to college football.
Would you trade a 70 year plus Nick Saban for Mike Norvell?

There's a lot to unpack here, and we'll start with Fornelli's comments about Saban's potential interest in the job. He acknowledges that finances could be an issue. Mike Norvell has a massive buyout, so getting rid of him would not be cheap. And signing Saban would be equally expansive.
"We know the program can compete for national titles, and the turnaround probably wouldn't take too much time considering the wiggle room offered by the ACC, where the only true threats are Clemson and Miami (and considering Miami has never won the league, are they truly a threat?)," Fornelli said. "My concern here would be financial -- how much money would the 'Noles have given the ACC's financial situation and the buyout they'd have to pay to make Mike Norvell go away?"
Saban to FSU is so crazy that it actually might work
Everything about this speculation will become a moot point if the Seminoles bounce back in 2026 under Norvell like many are hoping. The fact is, no one predicted FSU to go 2-10 last year, so we really don't have a clue about what an entirely new-look Seminoles team will do in 2025.
But let's say they underachieve again. What would that look like? 6-6? 5-7? Maybe worse. How much longer would FSU be willing to stick to the Mike Norvell plan? Fans are already on edge about a lot of things with FSU football, and I believe that some things are only an issue because the team is losing.
If the FSU administration decides they couldn't risk another year under Norvell, they would have to have a plan that could excite the fanbase and sell tickets. Nick Saban is going to sell tickets and if Saban expressed interest in running the football program, I believe the money needed to buyout Norvell and hire Saban would magically appear.
"[Florida State] needs to win 7 games for Mike Norvell to even have a CHANCE to come back." 😬

Even under these extreme circumstances, is Saban to FSU a real possibility? Probably not. And speculating on this is not necessary right now. Everyone involved with FSU football should be united behind Norvell and excited about the potential of a strong season.
But heck, if you would've asked me at the start of 2017 if Jimbo Fisher would leave before the end of the season and sign a contract with Texas A&M, I would've laughed.
Anything is possible.
