Nick Williams is attracting talented difference makers at DE for Florida State

This could be a great haul for Florida State for its 2027 recruiting class.

Florida State football decided that it was time to add another coach to the defensive line this offseason. As a result, they acquired Syracuse's Nick Williams as an assistant to help with the defensive ends.

The Seminoles have struggled at times to generate much talent in that area. Florida State did add eight prospects on the defensive line in the 2026 class, so some of them are bound to work out in Tallahassee. However, Florida State is trying to make anything and everything work right now.

The pressure is on to succeed at a high level after they combined to muster seven wins in two years. That is not the standard at Florida State, which includes competing for championships.

Nick Williams seems to know a thing or two about recruiting at a high level

Coach Williams has expanded his target board to many options, such as four-star Desmond Malpress, four-star Jabarius Garror (Alabama commit), four-star Frederick Arts, four-star Santana Harvey, four-star Cameron Pritchett (Oregon commit), four-star Sam LeJeune, and four-star TK Cunningham.

The energy has already been at its best compared to the last couple of years. This is a new assistant coach who has found a spark that has been missing. Luckily, the defensive line will have pieces that should have a chip on their shoulder, like Mandrell and Darryll Desir.

In Year 2 of defensive coordinator Tony White's scheme, they want to be aggressive to counteract high-power offenses such as SMU, Alabama, Louisville, Miami, and Clemson. The best way to slow an offense is to put pressure on the quarterback.

Speaking of the targets that were listed above, Garror, Harvey, and LeJeune have the best possibility of making the Garnet and Gold a reality for them. As we mentioned previously about starting the season with a 3-0 record, the Seminoles cannot plummet down the stretch and end up losing all of the recruits.
