Even though Florida State head coach Mike Norvell has received a vote of confidence from his boss in athletic director Michael Alford, this thing could all unravel by the end of the season. The Seminoles did get back into the win column last week with a dominant victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. It stopped the bleeding to bring Florida State back to 4-4, but it might not be good enough.
According to Steve Wiltfong of Rivals, Florida State commit Jay Timmons had a great experience taking his official visit to Ohio State. The Buckeyes were one of a handful of teams to show great interest in the defensive back from Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, along with Indiana, Penn State and obviously, Florida State. Timmons has been committed to the Seminoles since the end of June.
This short quote from Timmons says everything you need to know about the chances of him flipping.
"BIA is something special." This is not the type of thing you will want to hear out of a four-star commit.

BIA stands for "Best in America". That is how Ohio State views itself right now. Not sure if that phrase has been copyrighted like THE Ohio State University, but why would a four-star commit to Florida State be using a phrase that speaks so glowingly about another program, one that is closer to home for the Pennsylvania native? There is a very real possibility that Timmons ends up flipping to them...
What would this mean for the Seminoles if Timmons backed out of his commitment to the program?
Mike Norvell could lose Jay Timmons to Ohio State if he were to flip soon
According to the 247Sports Composite, Timmons is the No. 3 overall prospect from Pennsylvania, the No. 17 cornerback in the country, and the No. 136 player in his class. Other recruiting services view Timmons more highly than 247Sports does, as they only have him as the eighth best player from Pennsylvania, the 23rd best cornerback in the country, and just the 247th prospect in 2026.
Overall, with the way things have transpired over the last few years, Ohio State is a program with all the momentum in the world to seemingly flip whoever they may want. The Buckeyes are the reigning national champions with a war chest that most programs cannot compete with in terms of NIL. Yes, Timmons has been on their radar for a while, but if the Buckeyes really want him, they could get him.
Ultimately, this really comes down to the Norvell of it all. He has won big at Florida State and Memphis before. While he is at his best hitting the transfer portal hard, recruiting players out of high school has not always been his forte. Although not everyone can play at a place like Ohio State, the Buckeyes continue to recruit at a dominant level nationally in every conceivable way. The pressure is on now...
The best thing Florida State can do is to try to win out, and then maybe hold on for dear life in all this.
