A glance at the 2026 FSU football recruiting glance tells you that they’ve met nearly every need except for the offensive line and the defensive end/JACK positions. FSU has some legitimate targets they are looking to flip from other teams to fill those positions. However, Mike Norvell and the staff continue to look for the best players possible to add to the program.
Mike Norvell used Friday night as an opportunity to scope out local talent in Florida with the 3:30 p.m. kickoff against Kent State on Saturday. He visited a couple of games and noticed one player’s play, and gave him an FSU offer on the spot. That player is safety/linebacker Jacob Curry from Nease High School, just southeast of Jacksonville, Florida.
Nease played St. Augustine Friday night, and it was one of two high school games Mike Norvell went to see in person. The other game was Mandarin vs. IMG Academy. Norvell offered Curry after watching him play:
Blessed to earn an offer from Florida State University. Thank you @Coach_Norvell for coming to watch Nease play tonight. I’m grateful for the opportunity. 🍢🍢 @FSUCoachTW @FSUFootball pic.twitter.com/RK5in1Lh9H

Curry is a former Northwestern commit drawing interest from some big-time schools lately. Ohio State offered recently, and Curry has an official visit to Oklahoma this weekend for their matchup against Auburn. He’s a bright kid (4.27 GPA) with excellent size at 6’1” and 208 pounds. He had over 100 tackles in his junior year with 12 TFL and eight sacks. He also had seven pass breakups and two forced fumbles. He claims a 4.43 in the 40 and a 37" vertical. He'll gradaute in December and could enroll early.
He ranks as the No. 411 player and No. 32 safety nationally. It’s not clear what position FSU would use him in, but he would be a welcome addition to the class. We’ll have to keep an eye out to see if FSU gets him to visit for the Miami game in a couple of weeks. That game will be littered with a who’s who of recruits and commits.
