Mike Norvell has lost the plot at Florida State, as illustrated by sideline meltdown

This is all the visual evidence needed to prove that Mike Norvell needs to be out at Florida State.

It is awfully hard to keep one's job if you cannot win league games. That appears to be the case for Mike Norvell at Florida State. Over the last two years, Florida State has won precisely one ACC game. That was to Cal early in the season last year. After going 2-10 (1-7) last year, Norvell has the 'Noles riding a brutally bad four-game losing streak, all of whom to conference opponents. He has to go...

While the rest of the country was asleep, Florida State somehow found a way to lose to the Stanford Cardinal 20-13 with Frank Reich serving in the interim. Of all the losses Florida State suffered this season, this was by far the most painful. Sadly, it felt like it was expected. Stanford should be the worst team in the Power Four this season, yet the Cardinal are showing more fight than the 'Noles.

If you want more proof of why Norvell needs to go, look at him chewing out one of his players here...

This came after Edwin Joseph was called for offsides on a critical play that later culminated in a Stanford touchdown. At this point in time, Norvell does not seem to care that anyone is watching him. It is as if he knows his job is on the line at Florida State, but he does not care about the optics. Frankly, he should... Florida State has devolved back into what it was before he took over this football team.

In the end, Florida State may be one of the next Power Four teams to move on from their head coach.

Mike Norvell has run out of time to have staying power at Florida State

What makes this last month so frustrating for Florida State fans is this feels like last year all over again. Norvell went out and made a big splash in the transfer portal at quarterback. Although Tommy Castellanos is the better player over D.J. Uiagalelei, it has not really mattered. The worst part is having an improved coaching staff with Gus Malzahn and Tony White a part of it has not made any difference.

In the end, the one constant with Florida State being down is the coaching of Norvell. Even though arch rival Miami lost for the first time this season on Friday night, the Hurricanes cleaned the Seminoles' clock weeks ago. Although Miami, Virginia and Pittsburgh seem to be teams of quality, should Florida State not be beating or at least hanging tough with these teams? They are not doing it.

Ultimately, Florida State has grounds to fire Norvell. He cannot win league games. He is seen chastising players. Furthermore, he is no longer a galvanizing presence in Tallahassee. Maybe he just had a transcendent player at quarterback in Jordan Travis? Norvell did win a bunch of games at Memphis, but so did Justin Fuente before it went to hell in a hand basket for him with Virginia Tech.

Truth be told, even if Florida State were to fire Norvell, is this really one of the best jobs out there?
