FSU baseball had four players drafted in the first three rounds of the 2025 MLB Draft on Sunday night. It didn't take long for another FSU player to get that phone call on Monday.

The Miami Marlins must have watched a lot of in-state college baseball because they took Max Williams with a third-round pick on Sunday and selected Drew Faurot with an early pick in the fourth round on Monday.

Williams was pick No. 78 and Faurot was pick No. 108. The slot value for Faurot is $708,300.

FSU has a couple of players selected in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft, Jamie Ferrer and Marco Dinges. The latter is tearing it up this year and has been promoted to High-Class A.

Faurot was excellent in his final year with FSU. The switch-hitting second baseman teamed with Alex Lodise to be arguably the best defensive duo up the middle in college baseball. Faurot only committed four errors in 212 chances for a .981 fielding percentage.

He was no slouch at the plate, showing power in multiple games with home runs from both sides of the plate. He batted .307 with 16 home runs and 51 RBI. He struck out in 21 percent of his plate appearances, which is respectable for a guy switch-hitting in one of the best conferences in the nation.

Faurot is a Tallahassee native who started his college career at UCF before transferring to FSU for the final two years. There's no telling where he'll be sent in the minors, but it'll be cool if he makes the show for the Miami Marlins in a few years. That'll be a nice trip for the family to see him play.
