Miami keeps bringing in recruits for 2027 while Florida State is sitting on its hands

This negative trend for Florida State high school recruiting needs to stop immediately.

Florida State's 2027 recruiting class is sitting as the 50th-best in the country, according to 247Sports Composite. The Seminoles just lost their best prospect, four-star defensive back Mekhi Williams, after he officially visited Wisconsin.

It has not been a fun time for the Seminole fan base to endure during this recruiting cycle. This was to be expected after head coach Mike Norvell was retained by the administration. The combined 7-17 record over the past two years doesn't have the recruits knocking on their door.

This isn't to say that Coach Norvell doesn't care, because I still believe that he cares deeply about Florida State and wants them to be successful. However, the pressure is building, and the Seminoles have to win now. The entire recruiting philosophy needs a complete overhaul.

Florida State seems to be falling behind Florida and Miami in high school recruiting

Rivals Miami and Florida are performing well on the recruiting trail, and it pains me to see that. Head coach Mario Cristobal and Miami are fresh off a national championship game appearance, while Florida has its new head coach, Jon Sumrall.

Mario Cristobal has always been a great recruiter, but never could win at a high level as a coach. Florida State fans could say that John Ruiz has been giving the program McDonald's bags to get prospects and transfers from Miami, but that is the way the college football landscape is nowadays.

The Hurricanes continue to deliver on the high school recruiting trail, where they landed four-star linebacker Noah Glover on Sunday over good programs such as Georgia, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame.

This shouldn't be looked at as a Miami love post because I despise that program down south, and I hate the color orange. However, the Hurricanes are building it the right way so far to have sustainable success.

Florida State has double-digit official visitors on campus this weekend and has to get the job done in building momentum. Head coach Mike Norvell and company have to put their heads down and go to work on getting the Seminoles' recruiting class in a respectable position.
