HAVE A STABLE OFFENSIVE LINE

Florida State football has not had much stability on the offensive line in the past decade. It has been something that I ponder about why the Seminoles cannot lure in talent that can stay healthy and block consistently.

The offensive line unit underperformed last year, where the offense could not run or pass, and had opposing defenses pinning their ears back because they knew that the Seminoles could not block effectively under the guidance of former assistant coach Alex Atkins.

This isn't a direct shot at Coach Atkins because I wish him nothing but the best as he is at LSU now (Brian Kelly isn't shaking in his boots to play Florida State in a season opener anymore). The Seminoles hired former UCF offensive line coach Herb Hand to ensure that the unit is stabilized.

We heard that the unit last season was a veteran group led by Darius Washington, Robert Scott Jr. and Maurice Smith. However, all of those contributors regressed and the rest was history. The Seminoles decided to run it back and acquire six transfers via the portal, who will likely have significant playing time (four will start).

I hope that the offensive line can get it together in 2025.
