Latest players threatening to enter transfer portal using same agency to milk FSU

It is what it is...

One of the worst things affecting college football over the past couple of years is the ability for players to transfer without penalty. The other worst thing is the number of “agents” popping up out of nowhere to represent players. Some of the agents are legitimate, but there is no “requirement” that qualifies someone to fill the role. It can be a father, mom, 7-on-7 coach, someone’s uncle, etc.

The number of players getting terrible advice is appalling, and many college football players make grave mistakes when entering the transfer portal because they or the people around them are greedy.

Florida State fans received some crazy news on Tuesday when three players who played significant snaps in 2025 announced intentions to enter the transfer portal. Defensive linemen Mandrell and Darryll Desir, and wide receiver Lawayne McCoy.

The Desir twins agreed and signed a new deal for more than what they signed to come to Florida State out of high school. However, they (or their agency) are demanding more money, or they will enter the transfer portal. The news about Lawayne McCoy’s intentions to enter the transfer portal broke later on Tuesday night.

Ironically, all three players use the LAASports Entertainment Agency (Loyalty Above All). They represent players in the NFL and other professional leagues. Here’s what they provide(via their website):

“We provide full-scale representation that goes beyond contract negotiations. We build brands, secure strategic partnerships, protect your image, and ensure your value is recognized—on your terms. This industry doesn’t hand out fairness or loyalty. That’s why we built a team that brings both.”

It’s like they know they have leverage on the FSU administration and will try to milk every penny possible from these situations. The optics are already terrible because they’ve announced intentions to enter the portal. FSU will feel pressure to keep them because fans believe these players are irreplaceable. I don’t agree with that.

The Desir Twins are largely unproven without someone like Darrell Jackson in the middle creating opportunities for them to make plays. Lawayne McCoy is a talented receiver, but has had injury issues, and FSU has already retained the best receiver on the roster, Duce Robinson. FSU giving in to these demands repeatedly creates a cycle that gets repeated every year while Mike Norvell is the head coach.

That will be the case until they finally make a change.
