Good job by you, Joe Brady! While he did not have to go fully on the record like this, he stood up for his player in Keon Coleman. The recently promoted head coach of the Buffalo Bills set the record straight on the former Florida State star wide receiver. Even though Bills owner Terry Pegula threw him under the bus, Brady was not about that. He made it a point to speak glowingly about his player.

Brady expounded on the first thing he said to Coleman after he was promoted to Bills head coach.

"I stood on the table for Keon Coleman. I told Keon as soon as I got hired, when I called him, I said, 'Look, man. The best thing to happen to you is me being your head coach. The faith I have in you. We're going to make it work together.' And I know the quarterback has the confidence in him..."

Here is everything Brady had to say about Coleman's standing with the Bills while at the combine.

Coleman was the first pick of the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Bills out of Florida State.

Let's unpack three things from Brady's comments on Coleman. The first is fairly obvious. Brady has always been in Coleman's corner since he was drafted out of Florida State by the Bills. He is his king maker in some aspects. The second is Brady is brand-new to this head-coaching thing. You can tell by how uncomfortable and disjointed his thoughts were on explaining the situation at hand to CBS.

Yes, he will grow and prosper in front of the podium, simply because he has to. Otherwise, Bills Mafia will eat him alive. As far as the third thing is concerned, it has everything to do with Coleman being a second-round pick out of Florida State, and not a first-rounder... Buffalo only has him under contract for two more years. A fifth-year option cannot be extended to him. They will have to make a decision.

Right now, having Brady promoted from within is probably the best thing for Coleman's NFL career at this point, or at least in Buffalo... Had the Bills hired someone else, or decided to run it back again with Sean McDermott, that could have been a tinge problematic for him. Having your former coordinator be promoted to head coach and still believing in you after all of this mess certainly speaks volumes.

Regardless, Brady was hired to be the reason Buffalo can finally make it to a Super Bowl this century.
