This is Florida State football, which is a place that the legendary Bobby Bowden built.
Holding that type of expectation for the next individual being a head coach was unimaginable for the Seminole faithful. However, former coach Jimbo Fisher did that nicely, as he accomplished a BCS National Championship victory over the Auburn Tigers in 2013.
The Fisher era might have seemed like a luxury, but when he bolted for Texas A&M for a lucrative contract, it had fans in an uproar. The picture on Twitter (X) of Jimbo Fisher leaving his Christmas tree in the front of his yard was spectacular, and it perfectly captured the chaos of Florida State at the time.

Former head football coach Jimbo Fisher shares on the ACC Network about what Florida State needs to do
Fans should have seen the disaster waiting to happen, as Coach Fisher was demanding upgrades in the facility and seemed to always want more. In hindsight, he was right about the direction of the program, and they didn't want to give him what he wanted.
Fast forward to 2026, head football coach Mike Norvell is going into his seventh season at the helm in Tallahassee. His job security could be viewed as "up in the air" with the administration announcing that he would be retained for the next season.
The 5-7 record didn't exactly bode much confidence in a Seminoles team that has finished with six losing seasons in eight years. However, if anyone knows how to win at Florida State, it is Jimbo Fisher, and he had some insightful wisdom to share with the program on how to prepare for 2026.
"Florida State doesn't need to worry about winning; they need to worry about how they play."

Jimbo Fisher mentioned that Florida State didn't need to worry about winning, which isn't true since Mike Norvell has to prove next year that he has a winning product in Tallahassee. However, Fisher is right about the Seminoles needing to have the right mentality, mindset, and preparation.
The 2013 squad was special for Florida State, and even though people say 2001 Miami or 2019 LSU are the greatest teams of all-time, I believe that Fisher's version of the Seminoles were up there. Individuals want to see him back in the program at some capacity one day. Until that point, it is great to see the former coach passionate about Florida State again.
