Improving these 5 offensive stats could power FSU's 2025 rebound

It must happen for any chance to change the narratives.

Third Down Conversions

I mentioned the limited number of red zone trips earlier because of their inability to sustain drives.

The FSU offense couldn't sustain drives because they were always in third and long and struggled to convert on third downs.

FSU only converted third downs 28.75 percent of the time in 2023. That's a far cry from the 36.26 percent in 2023(which wasn't great), and the 51.19 conversion percentage in 2022(which was outstanding).

It's all tied together and goes back to the offensive line struggles on first and second down and the inability to run the quarterback or have any consistent success in the passing game.

FSU addressed all of those issues going into 2025. Thomas Castellanos is dynamic as a runner at QB, and the offensive line will have proven experience, and the FSU offense has better options at tight end and wide receiver.

That provides many options and combinations to have success on early downs and to make third downs more manageable.
