Offensive Red Zone Possessions
The FSU offense averaged 15.4 points per game and never scored more than 21 points against an FBS team after their season-opening loss against Georgia Tech (where they scored 21).
I still can't believe that's a real stat. Nevertheless, it's hard to score points when an offense can't sustain drives and get to the red zone.
FSU only had 27 trips to the red zone last year (21 when you remove the Charleston Southern game).
In comparison, in 2023, FSU had 55 red zone trips, and in 2022 had 66. That's how inept the FSU offense was in 2024.
The good news is that UCF had a terrible quarterback last year and managed to scratch out 45 red-zone trips with Gus Malzhan running the ship. That's still far below what it needs to be, but it tells us the floor shouldn't be close to as low as it was last year.
