Florida State coaches took a huge gamble by inviting tons of high-profile recruits to the Miami game last week. The Noles made the final score more respectable in a loss, and some players mentioned the loss didn’t affect the Noles in a negative light.
The coaches have a handful of spots remaining in their 2026 recruiting class and will have three players taking official visits for the Pittsburgh game on Saturday at noon.
- Jacob Curry-Four-star linebacker (Jacksonville, FL), Former Northwestern commit
- Chris Carbin-Three-star defensive end (Powder Springs, GA), Former Georgia Tech commit
- Franklin Whitley-Three-star defensive tackle (Greenville, SC), Late bloomer with several big-time offers
Mike Norvell went to see Curry play in person a couple of weeks ago and offered him shortly afterward. He's listed as a safety, but FSU likes him at linebacker. He might be replacing their efforts to land Duyon Forkpa. He received recent offers from Ohio State and Oklahoma.
Carbin was committed to Georgia Tech when FSU offered and attended the Alabama game in August. He de-committed recently, with Michigan and Auburn entering the picture. He has a visit set up for Michigan in early November. It'll be interesting to see if FSU can gain the commitment and get him to shutdown his recruitment.
Whitley is a fast-rising recruit who has received several offers from big-time programs recently. He's more of a project that needs development, but would be worth taking a flyer on at this point.
FSU needs to have an impressive performance on Saturday against the Panthers. They need to establish some positive momentum after the bad loss against Miami. A win and maybe one of these guys committing would bring positive vibes after two weeks of frustration.
