It has been a relatively quiet week for the Florida State football team since the school is on spring break. However, that didn’t stop one of the players from making an appearance in the news. FSU transfer kicker Conor McAneney was arrested and charged with a felony. He is accused of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence in South Florida on Wednesday.
McAneney was one of 23 transfer portal players added to the roster this spring. He transferred from Quincy University and was 7-10 on field goal attempts.
McAneney is originally from Ireland and a sophomore on the field. He was one of two transfer portal kickers added this spring, but he was likely going to be the backup unless he had a tremendous spring, summer, and fall camp.

Some might take this as a positive, since FSU always had one or two guys to get in trouble when they were at their peak
Obviously, this ordeal doesn’t help his cause. FSU also added kicker Gabe Panikowski from the transfer portal. The former Oklahoma State standout has much more proven experience and will likely take the starting spot.
One of the bright spots of the Mike Norvell era is that players having run-ins with the law and getting arrested have been few and far between. FSU didn’t have a comment on the situation, but it’ll be interesting to see what happens with McAneney.
FSU completed three spring practices of 15 before departing for Spring Break this week. The Noles have a around 50 new faces who joined the program this spring, and a successful spring camp will play a major part in the success of the program this year.
