FSU softball (24-4, 2-0 ACC) destroyed the Syracuse Orange for the second consecutive day to clinch the series win in their first ACC weekend. The Noles won 13-1, the second consecutive five-inning run-rule game in the series.
It wasn’t competitive for the second straight day as FSU led 7-0 after two innings. Isa Torres continues her torrid pace, going 2-2 with a home run, two walks, and two runs scored. Shelby McKenzie went 2-2 with a home run and two RBI. Freshman Marin Heller continues to rake, going 3-3 with two RBI.

FSU had 10 hits, six walks, and has yet to strike out in the series. Ashtyn Danley was the winning pitcher, going four innings, striking out four, and allowing two walks and one hit. Makenna Reid pitched the final inning, allowing one hit and two strikeouts.
It has been an impressive showing for the FSU offense over the last two games. We knew that Syracuse wasn't a good team, and they have handled them like you'd expect a top team to do.
However, what FSU had to start doing is finding some variation of this offense when they face better caliber arms. They have dominated lesser opponents, but the offense has been nearly non-existent against the top teams. Here's to hoping these games allow players to find their confidence so they can deliver against better competition down the road.
FSU will go for the series sweep on Sunday with the first pitch slated for noon. The game will air on the ACCNX channel.
