FSU quickly converts late 2027 offer into immediate official visit with overlooked OT

This would be an interesting add for the Seminoles' 2027 recruiting class.

We always talk about Florida State's coaching staff needing to expand its board to other targets, and they finally did so with an offer to Class of 2027 unranked offensive tackle Jonathan Toney from Dublin, Georgia.

Toney might not be the most popular pick since he isn't ranked at this time, plus he only has offers from schools such as Memphis, Appalachian State, Troy, South Florida, and Georgia State. While they are not necessarily "bad choices", fans will look at the offer list and wonder how some other Florida and Georgia prospects aren't being offered.

The Seminoles will likely not get three-star offensive lineman Shavezz Dixon from Leesburg, Georgia, as his official visit with Florida State has been removed. The coaching staff was originally banking on four-star DaJohn Yarborough to commit to them, but it might be a long shot with other schools in the mix.

Three-star OL Jonathan Toney could be someone to monitor for the Florida State Seminoles

Toney is listed at 6'6" and 288 pounds. This seems like someone that the Seminoles' coaching staff would have to grow. Florida State has moved quickly with him, as he has already scheduled his official visit in Tallahassee for the weekend of June 19th. He will take a trip to Appalachian State on the weekend of June 5th and Memphis on the weekend of June 12th.

I had recently highlighted that Florida State has not scheduled that many offensive linemen for official visits on campus. This was a bit concerning because the Seminoles need to find homegrown talent that can play in the trenches instead of having to constantly rely on the transfer portal.

While the portal can be used to grab one or two starters, the Seminoles could benefit from having the continuity of homegrown players with multiple years of experience and knowing how the offense operates. Redshirt junior Andre Otto is a good example. He has been on the team for four years now and even the transfers recognized that he has been a leader on the team.
