FSU football coaches haven't been making too many headlines in recruiting in this 2026 recruiting cycle.
They have some solid players committed and plan to host a tremendous amount of star talent for a team that only won two games last year.
I've been saying all along they are playing the long game in this recruiting cycle, knowing their results on the field will dictate their success in the recruiting game. The quarterback position continues to be one of interest with FSU working to secure a commitment from one of several blue-chip targets.
We reported that five-star Keisean Henderson will officially visit the Noles in June earlier Tuesday. However, recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong said it's more than just a courtesy official visit, and FSU has positioned itself as a real threat for the Houston commit.
Here's where it gets interesting. All of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class have committed somewhere except Landon Duckworth(Ole Miss, FSU, Auburn, South Carolina), Ryder Lyons (he'll stay out west), and Bowe Bentley (between Oklahoma and LSU).
Texas and Texas A&M already have QB commits, so that helps FSU for the Texas native. Auburn and Alabama don't have QB commitments but don't seem to be in the picture now. Alabama signed a big-time QB recruit last recruiting cycle.
It would seem FSU has the inside track to flip him since they are the only school he has scheduled an official visit with as of now. Here's another potential strategy. FSU could have purposely not chased some other blue-chip players while working on this recruitment. It's a gamble, but landing Henderson sends shockwaves through the recruiting world. He also likely attracts more blue-chip players who want to come play for him.
Can Houston match FSU in a NIL battle? I doubt it, especially if FSU goes all out to flip him. It'll be fascinating to watch this unfold and how FSU has handled QB recruiting this cycle is like trying to thread a needle with the lights dim. They'll have three QBs officially visiting in June. If Bowe Bentley commits to Oklahoma, that opens the door for Jaden O'Neal to flip. I still think Ole Miss is in the driver's seat for Duckworth, which could be why FSU has put pressure on Henderson since they may think all of the other biggest competitors already have their QBs for the cycle.
Now we sit and wait. My guess is they would push for a commitment to try and build some momentum with a gazillion other blue-chip players officially visiting in June.
