Florida State head coach Mike Norvell hired several new position coaches after the 2024 season. Herb Hand, Evan Cooper, Terrance Knighton, and Tim Harris Jr.
The latter may have been one of the least known from the bunch, coming to FSU from UCF with Gus Malzahn. However, Harris quickly gained respect for what he did with his wide receiver position group. A group that struggled in recruiting and production under former FSU receiver’s coach, Ron Dugans.
Harris took FSU legacy Duce Robinson and helped him become an All-ACC selection. Micahi Danzy and Lawayne McCoy took massive steps in their sophomore year, teaming up with Robinson to account for over 60 percent of the receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. Freshman Jayvan Boggs, whom Harris recruited at UCF, looked promising before injuries derailed his development.
After elevating the offense with playmaking receivers in his first year at FSU, @CoachT_HarrisJR has been promoted to co-Offensive Coordinator! He will continue to coach our wide receivers, who produced nine 100-yard games in 2025#NoleFamily pic.twitter.com/mhsgeywXvU

Harris also secured several blue-chip wide receivers to sign in the 2026 high school recruiting class. Harris was rewarded for his efforts with a promotion to co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach.
The move is likely two-fold. It secures his spot on the staff if others look to poach(as Florida did with his brother). It’s also likely a nod towards the future, with Gus Malzahn looking to likely retire or move on in the next year or two (he was trying to leave after this past season). Harris was Malzahn’s offensive coordinator in 2024 at UCF and co-offensive coordinator before that. He was also the offensive coordinator at FIU in 2020.
He’s only 40 years old and looks to have a promising future. IF Mike Norvell survives the 2026 season, it’s possible Harris Jr. could take over the offensive coordinator duties if Malzahn decides to do something different. It’s a proactive move that makes sense.
