FSU plan for defensive end recruiting is to poach players committed elsewhere

I mean, they can do it if they have a good season.

The 2026 FSU recruiting class has no defensive end commits as we've passed the halfway point in July. The Noles didn't have a huge recruiting board at the position and only brought in fewer than 15 defensive ends for official visits.

All of those players have committed to other programs early or are no longer realistically considering FSU. We highlighted one ACC program that the FSU coaches need to keep an eye on if their season goes sideways.

The Syracuse Orange have two defensive end commits from Florida, and FSU recruited both. This week, one of those targets set up an official visit to FSU for the weekend of the Miami game. FSU could target the other defensive end as well, although he's even more of a developmental player who's more of a borderline blue-chip player.

FSU has some of its best committed players going after four-star Miami commit Asharri Charles. He will take an official visit to FSU for the Alabama game.

FSU could come back to Trenton Henderson (LSU), Cam Brooks (California), Chris Addison (Michigan State), or Katrell Webb(Purdue).

Syracuse, Purdue, Michigan State, and California will probably not have great records on the field in 2025. Miami will probably falter again, and if FSU can beat them? That would give Asharri Charles something else to consider.

It's a sizeable gamble at the position, but FSU took several defensive end rushers in the 2024 recruiting class. They don't have to take a ton to field the need, and probably would be fine if they got two of these guys to flip. They can always use the transfer portal, but the defensive end position has become a premium position that costs big bucks.

We'll see how it all shakes out, but it looks like FSU will have to flip some guys to fill the need from the high school ranks.
