Florida State baseball was supposed to be taking on St. John's today at 3 PM EST in the friendly confines of Dick Howser Stadium for regional play. There were plenty of people who were wondering why it was a day game when the Seminoles host the regional.
This is a big moment for the Florida State squad, as they hope to advance to the Super Regionals in Tuscaloosa (if Alabama wins). It would be great if the Crimson Tide lost and Florida State got to host the Super Regionals instead, but I guess beggars cannot be choosers.
Florida State's baseball matchup against St. John's is in a rain delay
It didn't seem to make sense for a team that needs as many fans as possible at the game. However, the Seminoles may be disappointed to learn there is a rain delay in Tallahassee. There could be a night game in Dick Howser Stadium after all.

The new start time is supposed to be announced soon. The good news is that the Seminoles didn't start playing an inning or two before being taken off the field. This is just Florida State's luck to have a rain delay for a regional matchup.
The weather during this time always involves a ton of rain because we are now basically in the summer. Overall, Florida State baseball has to focus in and not allow the distractions of the delay affect them too much.
Florida State's offense needs to start heating up, especially the power bats. The season-ending injury to superstar Myles Bailey wasn't ideal for a squad that relied on him as much as they did. Head coach Link Jarrett needs to figure out a solution. Maybe it requires Ben Barrett to find his rhythm at the plate.
FSU starting lineup vs. St. John's:
— Brett Nevitt (@brettpn) May 29, 2026
LF John Stuetzer
CF Brayden Dowd
RF Brody DeLamielleure
C Hunter Carns
1B Ben Barrett
DH Nathan Cmeyla
SS Gabe Fraser
2B Carter McCulley
3B Cal Fisher
SP Bryson Moore
Having Nathan Cmeyla as the designated hitter is big for the Seminoles. Even though senior third baseman Cal Fisher is struggling at the plate this year, this postseason feels like a spot where he will rise to the challenge and get the job done.
Nonetheless, I don't want to take anything away from St. John's. They are a solid team that is capable of beating anyone in this Tallahassee Regional.
Florida State baseball's matchup versus St. John's has a new start time
Florida State baseball now has a 4:06 PM EST start time for its Regional matchup against St. John's. This is better than having to play at 8 PM tonight. Maybe this will allow more fans to be able to go to the game.
