Florida State football has not been able to get any momentum on the recruiting trail, as they rank outside the top-40 in the 2027 247Sports Composite rankings. The fan base is frustrated with head coach Mike Norvell and how this program has plummeted over the past two years.
It has been embarrassing because when Florida State beat Alabama in the opener last year, some individuals thought the sky was the limit for the team, and the excitement was through the roof. However, losing seven of the final nine games leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
With the downward spiral, recruits wonder whether it would be smart to say "yes" to a school like Florida State. Programs like Auburn and South Carolina are getting quality prospects, and they haven't exactly been the model of consistency over the past couple of years.
Three-star QB Logan Flaherty could be the next commitment for Florida State football
The Seminoles are starving for success on the recruiting trail. The good news could be coming soon as three-star quarterback target Logan Flaherty from Port Charlotte, Florida, will be announcing his commitment between Florida State, Rutgers, Georgia Tech, South Florida, North Carolina, and Memphis on Tuesday, May 19th at 1:30 PM EST on the Rivals' YouTube channel.

Where will they go?🤔

Flaherty would be a solid quarterback addition for the Seminoles. I know there will be some fans that look at his three-star ranking and get angry because he isn't a four-star prospect. However, it is important that the Port Charlotte standout doesn't camp anywhere, which is important when a variety of analysts do their rankings so they can properly evaluate them.
I will say that four-star Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV was their first quarterback want in the class, but when he took an unofficial visit to Notre Dame and then shortly after committed to the Fighting Irish, the coaching staff had to pivot to Logan Flaherty.
While some fans view it as "settling", I see it as picking up a signal-caller with starting experience with 38 total touchdowns during his junior season. Quarterbacks generally create the buzz and excitement within a recruiting class, so this could help Mike Norvell's efforts to get more talent.
Overall, it is way past due for the Seminoles to finally get some exciting news for once on the recruiting trail.
